Symbiotic Skill Shares

These curated sessions are thoughtfully designed for all members of the birth community. Each session couples two related topics, offering participants a rich and holistic learning experience. You'll benefit from expert facilitators for each segment, ensuring comprehensive understanding and engaging discussions.

After the presentations, participate in an intentional networking themed around the topics, fostering meaningful conversations. Enjoy treats and snacks while with fellow birth professionals.

Skill Shares are a mindful and much needed way to build community and your professional network!

Each monthly Symbiotic Skill Share will include:

  • Two in-person presentations held in rotating locations around Massachusetts

  • Intentional networking session to follow, with a theme related to the presentations for discussion

  • Breakfast treats and snacks (lunch on your own, except where noted)

  • Opportunities to interact with other birth professionals to build community and connection

November Skill Share

Our inaugural Symbiotic Skill Share! Adwapa Asenso, owner of Doudoukare, taught us so much about the placenta, and amazing things that it does both inside of and outside of the birthing body.

I shared "What I've Learned About Belly Wrapping," a session of cultural appreciation for this amazing ritual for postpartum healing and closure.

Doulasgiving

Doulasgiving

A glorious gathering of great folks! Our potluck included a couple of delicious pizzas, homemade meatballs, a cheeseball tree with sourdough crackers (ping for me the recipe!), orzo salad in a gorgeous handmade ceramic dish, challah breads, a fantastic Colombian guava pastry ring, a strawberry cake to die for, a cookie Christmas tree and more. Gratitude galore, particularly to Megan Peasley for hosting.

These get-togethers give us a chance to know one another, providing us a rich group of folks to refer to due to personal connection. At this year's Doulasgiving, we met (left to right, back row first):

  • Susannah Glass, doula and nursing professor at Endicott

  • Jess Ohanian, postpartum doula and Ayurvedic practitioner (holding her delightful daughter Evie)

  • Morgan Hayward, doula

  • Teresa Fortin, doula, childbirth educator, placenta encapsulator and aspiring herbalist

  • Bonnie Rovics, massage therapist, doula, Spinning Babies Aware Practitioner and Parent Educator, breech enthusiast
